The Indian rupee weakened against the U.S. dollar in early trading on Friday. The rupee reached a 10-day low of 49.71 against the greenback with 50.00 seen as the next downside target level. As of now, the pair is worth 49.685, compared to Thursday's closing value of 49.505.

India's industrial production for December will be released at 12:30 am ET.
