DOW JONES NEWSWIRES DuPont Co. (DD) and Yingli Green Energy Holding Co. Ltd.'s (YGE) China subsidiary signed a $100 million deal to help increase the supply of photovoltaic materials for the adoption of solar energy. Solar-products maker Yingli will purchase photovoltaic materials from DuPont, a diversified U.S. manufacturer and chemical producer, such as Dupont's Solamet photovoltaic metallization pastes for solar modules and protective backsheet made with Dupont's Tedlar polyvinyl fluoride film. Earlier this month, DuPont reached a similar deal with solar-panel maker Suntech Power Holdings Co. Ltd. (STP). DuPont's agreement with Suntech focuses on technology advancements and supply-chain cost reduction initiatives. The solar-product industry has been struggling with weak demand in Europe--the world's largest market for solar products--as well as oversupply from Asia, which has pressured selling prices. In November, Yingli reported it swung to a third-quarter earnings loss as a lower average selling price slowed the company's revenue growth.
