PARSIPPANY, N.J., Nov. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Wyndham Worldwide
(NYSE: WYN), one of the world's largest hospitality companies, has
N.J.'s most energy efficient office building. The Company earned 99
out of 100 for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's)
ENERGY STAR rating for its corporate headquarters offices at 14
Sylvan Way in Parsippany, N.J.,
and is the state's highest ranked building in 2015*. In
addition, its 22 Sylvan location earned 98 out of 100, a
distinction it shares with just one other office building in the
state. This achievement also places its corporate offices among the
top three percent of the most efficient buildings in the
nation.
"At Wyndham Worldwide, we're consistently developing
eco-friendly initiatives across our businesses," said Frank Campana, senior vice president, corporate
real estate and facilities, Wyndham Worldwide. "We are committed to
exploring and implementing innovative environmental practices, not
only for our hospitality portfolio, but also for our corporate
offices, as this effort reduces costs, fosters the efficient use of
resources and supports profitability. Being green is literally
'built in' to Wyndham Worldwide and a critical piece of our
company-wide strategy; our campus headquarters is the ultimate
symbol of that."
Buildings that earn EPA's ENERGY STAR certification use an
average of 35 percent less energy than typical buildings and also
release 35 percent less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Wyndham
Worldwide improved its energy performance by managing energy
strategically across the entire organization and by making
cost-effective improvements to its buildings. The Company just
announced that it reached its carbon emissions goal six years ahead
of schedule, and achieved a 20 percent reduction in carbon
emissions (measured on a per square foot basis), well-surpassing
its goal, which was a 20% reduction by 2020. The Company also
announced a new goal, to reduce total carbon emissions by 25
percent by 2025.
The Company's energy usage is tracked through the EPA's ENERGY
STAR online tool. To achieve the ENERGY STAR rating, Wyndham
Worldwide upgraded its lighting systems and overall operations,
including:
- Operating on 100 percent wind power that the Company purchases
from a third party provider;
- Installing ENERGY STAR certified equipment throughout the
buildings, including the televisions in the lobby to the cooking
equipment in the kitchen;
- Undergoing a major LED lighting retrofit and upgrading lights
in the parking lots, open spaces, dining areas, and building areas.
Additionally, motion sensors were installed to control more than
250 light fixtures.
- Utilizing building technology to collect and analyze operating
data to measure and track operating efficiency.

Transit bus stop at its corporate office location, thus reducing

strategy, Wyndham Worldwide consistently aligns its business and
financial performance with the responsible way it operates by

sustainability, diversity, human rights, wellness and philanthropy.

ENERGY STAR was introduced by EPA in 1992 as a voluntary,
market-based partnership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through
energy efficiency. Today, the ENERGY STAR label can be found on
more than 65 different kinds of products, 1.4 million new homes,
and 20,000 commercial buildings and industrial plants that meet
strict energy-efficiency specifications set by the EPA. Over the
past twenty years, American families and businesses have saved more
than $230 billion on utility bills
and prevented more than 1.8 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas
emissions with help from ENERGY STAR.
