Williams Partners LP (WPZ) is planning a $150 million project to increase natural-gas distribution capacity to areas of the New Jersey coast affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Williams Partners, an affiliate of Williams Cos. (WMB), said the project is in addition to $4.3 billion of expansion projects planned through 2017.

The project, which requires regulatory approvals, consists of additional compression to provide 180,000 dekatherms of firm natural gas transportation service and increased reliability to a local gas distribution company.

Williams Partners plans to place the project into service in phases, with the first phase in 2016 and the second in 2017.

The companies are set to report their second-quarter financial results Wednesday after the U.S. market close.
