In-club screenings available to the public on
Saturday, September 12 include glucose and A1C tests to measure
blood sugar levels
In the United States, nearly 28 percent of adults with diabetes
don’t know that they have it. In addition, 90 percent of adults
with prediabetes, a condition that increases the risk of developing
type 2 diabetes, also remain undiagnosed.1
To encourage greater detection of these conditions, Sam’s Club
is hosting free diabetes health screenings for both members and the
public. These screenings also aim to help diagnosed diabetics
assess their control of the condition.
This is the fifth year that Sam’s Club is offering these free
diabetes health screenings, as part of the company’s ongoing
commitment to the health and wellness of the communities that it
serves. The screenings are confidential and available at all Sam’s
Club locations with a pharmacy (612 locations) on Saturday,
September 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. They are valued at $2502 and
include tests for:
- A1C – a test that measures your average
blood sugar level over the past three months3
- Glucose – a test that measures the
current amount of sugar in your blood4
- Blood pressure
- Total cholesterol
- HDL (good cholesterol)
- Risk ratio
- Body mass index (BMI)
In addition to monthly health screenings, Sam’s Club pharmacies
provide savings and preventive care to each community they serve,
such as year-round immunizations for children and adults.* Licensed
pharmacists can administer walk-in flu shots and nine other
important immunizations, including the MMR (measles, mumps,
rubella) vaccine. Eligible Sam’s Club Plus members can also save
even more on prescriptions, including exclusive discounts on select
generic prescriptions, some of which are available free of charge
or at a discounted cost of $4 or $10 for a 30-day supply. This
benefit is part of the Sam’s Club Extra Value Drug List, through
which Sam’s Club Plus members also receive 10-30 percent savings on
select brand name medications. To learn more about these savings
and immunizations offered, please visit SamsClub.com.
Additional information about Sam’s Club health and wellness
offerings can be found at SamsClub.com and in the Sam’s Club
exclusive bi-monthly wellness magazine, Healthy Living Made Simple,
which reaches approximately eight million members.
