WGL Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: WGL) announces that its subsidiary, Washington Gas Energy Services, recently won the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) contract to serve power to the vast majority of Federal departments and agencies in the District of Columbia and Maryland. The Maryland contract has a lifespan of two years and the District of Columbia contract extends over 18 months, with a projected start date of June 2015.

Hutchinson, III, Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer for WGL. “This new agreement is an example of our ability to provide a comprehensive set of energy solutions to customers. We hope to further work with the GSA to explore opportunities to provide distributed power generation to many of these sites, helping these federal organizations to meet their mandated 2020 greenhouse gas reduction goals.”

The estimated Maryland electricity load is 857,677 MWhs, and the District’s estimated load is 2,429,784 MWhs, totaling 3,287,461 MWhs.
