Among the companies with shares expected to trade actively in Wednesday's session are SunEdison Inc. (SUNE) and Towers Watson (TW).

SunEdison Inc. said Wednesday that a subsidiary would extinguish $336 million in exchangeable notes, with holders of the debt getting interest in renewable energy assets under development and shares of TerraForm Power Inc., one of the renewable energy development company's two yieldcos, in exchange. Shares rose 8.96% to $5.46 in premarket trading.

Willis Group CEO says a "merger of equals' with Towers Watson is expected to be completed in early 2016. Towers Watson shares rose 1.01% to $131.25 premarket.

Bank of America Corp. (BAC) expects to post a pretax write-down of roughly $600 million in the fourth quarter related to the redemption of $2 billion of trust preferred securities. Shares fell 0.46% to $17.20 premarket.

Activist investor Carl Icahn has apparently won the bidding war for the Pep Boys--Manny, Moe & Jack (PBY) after Bridgestone Corp. said it wouldn't counter his latest bid for the auto parts and repair chain. Shares fell 2.69% to $18.43 premarket.
