Commitment will go toward victim and community
recovery
Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC) announced today a $300,000
donation to the OneOrlando fund, set up by the City of Orlando to
address the needs of victims and the community in the wake of the
Pulse nightclub tragedy.
“All of us at Wells Fargo are devastated by the tragedy at Pulse
nightclub and the senseless act of violence that has impacted so
many, particularly those in the LGBT and Hispanic communities,”
said Derek Jones, Central Florida region president. “As an employer
who celebrates diversity and inclusion daily, we are hopeful our
donation will help and support those affected and aid in the city’s
recovery.”
The OneOrlando Fund will be administered by the Central Florida
Foundation (CFF), a 22-year-old organization that serves as home
for more than 400 charitable funds. The CFF manages and invests
nonprofit directed funding to help the local community and
nonprofits. It will guide funds to nonprofits to support the
victims and families of this tragedy, as well to the LGBTQ,
Hispanic, faith, and other affected communities. Funds will also be
directed to other needs that may arise but cannot yet be
anticipated. The OneOrlando Fund is a project of Strengthen
Orlando, Inc., a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit corporation created for the
purpose of starting and supporting projects to strengthen the
Orlando community.
“Through this community-wide effort, the victims’ families and
friends will receive the support they need to help them begin the
healing process,” Jones added. “As a Central Florida team, we know
there will be more to do in the coming months, and Wells Fargo
stands ready to work together and help our Orlando community.”
