In Hyderabad, the proceeds will be used to support the support
Izzatnagar Government Primary School, Hafeezpet Government Primary
School, Zilla Parishad High School, Kothaguda and the PSS Trust,
which work to improve the lives of girls in India. In Bengaluru,
the proceeds will support the Triveni Nagar School, Swanthana (a
home for mentally and physically challenged girls), and Snehadaan
(an orphanage for HIV positive children) under Sneha Care
Homes.
Wells Fargo EGS – India has a long-term association with these
schools and institutions working in tandem with partner
nongovernmental organizations (NGOs).
“We have a robust annual calendar of community programs, said
Aradhana Kurup, head of Corporate Sustainability at Wells Fargo EGS
– India. “What makes Fundraising Week unique is the fact that it
gets our team members involved in supporting local causes in a fun
way. We initiated this event in 2011, under our Sparsh community
service program, with the objective of raising money for the
government schools and homes for the underprivileged children that
we support throughout the year.”
Fundraising Week is an important part of Wells Fargo’s
commitment to volunteerism. It has evolved over the years, becoming
a popular event with a fun atmosphere. This year, services offered
by team members included car washes, technical learning sessions,
financial advice and culinary efforts. The effort was part of
Fundraising Week from May 9-13, which Wells Fargo has held since
2011.
“Driven by the spirit to give to causes that are close to our
hearts, our team members come up with very creative ways of
generating funds. While it makes significant impact on the
communities we live in, the week-long event also strengthens the
commitment of our team members to give back to the community,”
Kurup added.
Proceeds from the 2015 Fundraising Week were given to the
partner NGOs to be used for activities such as providing for
salaries of teachers, library improvements, laboratory
construction, and school-kit distribution. Some of the other
activities included tuition classes, installing water filters,
bookshelves and classroom screens. Globally, Wells Fargo team
members volunteered more than 1.8 million hours in 2015, and the
company has organized Wells Fargo Volunteer Chapters in 10
countries around the world.
