Wells Fargo Investment Institute (WFII) today released the 2016
Outlook report ‘Navigating Risk in a Year of Change,’ that focuses
on four themes that could play a pivotal role in the global markets
in the coming years. In addition to the themes, the report also
examines five potential changes brewing next year that could have
significant implications for investors. These changes are:
1) a shift in U.S. monetary policy,
2) a change in the political landscape,
3) a changing consumer behavior,
4) growing uncertainty, and
5) global economic transition.
“The U.S. economy and the financial markets have been on a
six-year path of recovery, and as that process continues and
deepens, there are big changes coming next year,” said Darrell
Cronk, President, Wells Fargo Investment Institute. “Against
that backdrop, we identify the catalysts for change and point out
what investors will need to navigate as the year progresses.”
The report provides market and economic forecasts for 2016 and
focuses on four themes that are likely to impact the global
financial markets.
The four themes that are highlighted in the report are as
follows:
- Consumers, commodities, and
currencies looks at the interplay of these three
financial-market fundamentals with respect to global economic
growth, asset pricing, and inflationary pressures.
- Fuel for growth discusses
factors that will help support late-cycle global economic
growth.
- Disruptions and volatility
considers how an interconnected global economy is contributing to
ongoing market volatility.
- Living longer and living better
discusses the opportunities and challenges of an aging population
in a low-interest-rate environment.

mean for investors. Access your copy of the Wells Fargo Investment
