Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) reported operational problems with a unit at its refinery in Port Arthur, Texas.

"Process unit upset resulted in excess emissions," the 335,000-barrel-a-day refinery said in a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

The refinery, located east of Houston, said the emissions began Tuesday afternoon and were to end Wednesday morning. The emissions came from AVU-146, Complex 1 and Cooling Tower 366, it said.
