Valero Energy Corp. on Thursday reported flaring during planned maintenance work at its Benicia Refinery in Northern California.

In a statement to the California Emergency Management Agency, Valero said there were sulfur dioxide emissions that "exceeded the 24-hour limit."

It said there was no community or other offsite impacts and no damages or injuries were reported.

The 145,000-barrel-a-day crude capacity Benicia refinery is located near San Francisco.
