SAO PAULO--Telefonica Brasil SA (VIV), the Brazilian unit of
Spain's Telefonica SA (TEF), is planning to invest up to 24 billion
reais ($7.07 billion) in its operations in Latin America's largest
nation from 2017 through 2019.
The company, which didn't give a comparison with past
investment, said Monday it would invest the money to expand its 4G
coverage and expand its fiber network across the country.
Telefonica said the investment excludes the purchase of
potential licenses.
The company is Brazil's largest mobile-phone company by market
share, according to telecommunications regulator Anatel.
