MINNEAPOLIS, July 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Visitors to
the 3M Championship July 31 –
Aug. 2 will have a chance to get into
the golf action by trying to sink a putt at "Valspar's Putt for
Habitat Challenge" and help Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity
receive up to $15,000 of additional
support from Valspar.
"Valspar has been a tremendous partner in helping us give
families a brighter future," said Susan
Haigh, President and CEO, Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity.
"We are so thankful for all they do to contribute to our work at
Habitat and to our communities. They help us carry on our critical
mission to eliminate poverty housing in the Twin Cities."
For every putt made, the Valspar Foundation will donate
$5 up to $15,000 to the local Habitat for Humanity
affiliate. Fans will find Valspar's Putt for Habitat Challenge in
the interactive "Family Fun Zone" located behind the
18th green of the Tournament Players Club in
Blaine, Minnesota. Admission to
the 3M Championship is free.
"Valspar is proud to partner with Habitat to provide families
with decent, safe and affordable housing, and help transform
lives and communities," said Gary E.
Hendrickson, Valspar Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
"Our volunteers, donated paint and financial support have made a
difference for many families over the years, and we're looking
forward to continuing our partnership with Habitat well into the
future."
In March, Valspar announced a new five-year pledge of
$36 million in paint and funding to
Habitat for Humanity International. As Habitat's national paint
partner, Valspar provided Habitat affiliates with 2.2 million
gallons of paint by the end of 2014, bringing total cash and paint
donations to more than $60 million
since 2002. In the past 12 months, Valspar has donated 4,400
gallons of paint for use on Twin Cities Habitat homes — new
construction and home preservation through the A Brush With
Kindness program.
