Ascent Private Capital Management of U.S. Bank has named John Zimmerman, CFA, as regional managing director of its Denver office. Zimmerman, who most recently served as president of Denver Investments, will join Ascent’s Denver team on June 14.

Zimmerman will lead Ascent’s team of professionals in Denver, who work with families with an average net worth of more than $440 million.

“John’s extensive financial services and wealth management experience make him the ideal fit to lead our Denver team,” said Michael Cole, president of Ascent. “Our clients expect a high-touch experience in all of the services Ascent offers, and John is exactly the type of leader who can deliver on those expectations.”

In his previous role as president of Denver Investments, Zimmerman was responsible for the overall strategic direction of the firm, which has approximately $8 billion in assets under management. Prior to that role, he served as managing director of Northern Lights Capital Group, which provides capital and strategic resources to boutiques in the asset management industry. He also held executive leadership positions with Janus Capital Group and Bank of America Capital Management.

“I have had a rewarding and varied career, and the opportunity to join a progressive and growth-oriented firm like Ascent, where I can use my experience and talents to help families protect and enhance their wealth, is tremendously exciting. The reputation, credibility, and deep commitment of Ascent to provide holistic wealth management services to clients truly sets this organization apart. I could not be more thrilled to be joining the team,” Zimmerman said.

Reflecting Ascent’s values, Zimmerman also has a strong commitment to the Denver philanthropic community. He serves on the executive board of the Boy Scouts of America, Denver Area Council, and is a member of the Catholic Foundation of Northern Colorado's Board of Trustees and chairs its investment committee. He is also board chair for Seeds of Hope Charitable Trust, and sits on the executive boards of Vital for Colorado and Von’s Vision.

Zimmerman, who is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Missouri, and an MBA from St. Louis University. He and his wife reside in Lone Tree, Colo., with their three children.
