UPS Labeling Improves Time In Transit
February 02 2017 - 9:30AM
Shippers looking to speed up transportation of goods from Asia can
now deliver shipments to their customers faster. UPS (NYSE: UPS)
announced today the addition of origin labeling capability for UPS
Trade Direct Air and Ocean services. UPS Trade Direct solution
allows importers and manufacturers to bypass distribution centers
by adding the final destination label to individual packages for
immediate last mile delivery. Leveraging the breadth and
reliability of the UPS® global network, UPS Trade Direct tools
provide consolidation of international freight, air, ocean and
ground transportation, customs clearance and direct delivery to
multiple addresses within the destination country, all through a
single source.
“Shifting customs regulations around the world make
international e-commerce challenging,” said Cindy Miller, president
of UPS Global Freight Forwarding. “This investment in our
technology will help keep shippers fully compliant with destination
rules and regulations.”
“Origin labeling provides greater flexibility to both importers
and exporters,” said Keith Andrey, Global Freight Forwarding vice
president of Air and Ocean Products. “Labeling at origin reduces
transit time by roughly one day and allows customers to use
in-transit goods as a ‘floating warehouse’ during transoceanic
voyages.”
UPS Trade Direct origin labeling is available to all UPS
customers and can be monitored using Flex® Global View, UPS’s
premier tracking tool for freight shipments. This service is
initially available on select Asia to US trade lanes. Further
capability expansion will be rolled out in the near future
according to market demand.
