Today at the Kalamazoo Central Library, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Michigan and Kalamazoo RESA Head Start hosted a baby shower for expectant moms and new parents. The baby shower provided expectant moms and new parents with important prenatal and well-baby care resources and information.

Expectant moms and new moms met with health experts to get answers to questions about their pregnancies and receive tips for taking care of their babies, including information on prenatal and postpartum care, and child-care safety. Attendees learned about available well-baby resources, including a demonstration of Baby Blocks®, a free online wellness-incentive program that enables participants to receive email appointment alerts, wellness-related text messages, connect directly with maternity nurses and earn rewards for keeping doctor appointments.

Those in attendance received a free gift bag that included baby-care items. There was also a raffle for parents with door prizes such as a baby bouncer, car seat and other baby-care items.
