Dow Jones News
International stocks trading in New York were mostly lower on

depositary receipts edged down 0.17% to 124.76. The European index
eased 0.44% to 123.97, the Asian index rose 0.54% to 135.67, the
Latin American index fell 0.67% to 148.49 and the emerging markets

a Chinese company with American depositary shares. ADRs of the

AstraZeneca PLC (AZN) confirmed Monday that it was exploring
"strategic options" with Acerta Pharma BV, after The Wall Street
Journal last week reported that the U.K. pharmaceutical company was
in talks to pay more than $5 billion for the private biotech
company. AstraZeneca's ADRs fell 25 cents to $33.
Royal Dutch Shell PLC (RDSA, RDSA.LN) plans to shed 2,800 jobs
after merging with BG Group PLC next year, trimming 3% of the
combined company's workforce as the energy group struggles with a
prolonged slump in oil prices. The job cuts were disclosed the same
day that Shell and BG said Chinese regulators had given
"unconditional" approval for the merger, the final major antitrust
hurdle the companies said they faced. Shell's ADRs declined 1.3% to
$43.95.
