Turkcell Launches New IoT Service Leveraging ULE Solutions From DSP Group
January 04 2016 - 7:00AM
DSP Group®, Inc. (NASDAQ:DSPG), a leading global provider of
wireless chipset solutions for converged communications, and
Turkcell (NYSE:TKC) (BIST:TCELL), an integrated telecommunications
and technology services provider in Turkey, announced today the
launch of Turkcell’s new state-of-the-art IoT services, all powered
by DSP Group’s advanced ULE SoCs.
ULE (Ultra Low Energy), the most advanced home
networking technology offers outstanding range, lower power
consumption, robust and secure RF channels and supports two way
voice, audio and video communication over the air. Based on a
simple star topology, ULE requires fewer nodes compared with other
mesh network technologies, thereby reducing total system,
installation and maintenance costs.
With DECT technology already embedded in three
generations of Turkcell’s home gateways, a simple software upgrade
to ULE for IoT support was a natural step. Leveraging Turkcell’s
existing gateways to serve also as the centre of the smart home,
achieved two important goals for Turkcell 1) saving the cost of an
additional IoT gateway 2) enabled a myriad of new IoT applications
and services such as home automation, safety, monitoring services,
energy management and assisted living.
“With DECT connectivity already embedded in our
CPEs, it was a natural step to upgrade to ULE to offer a new scope
of IoT services for our customers,” said Anıl Gül, Director of
Terminal and Mobility at Turkcell. “ULE is not just another
technology in the burgeoning market of smart home applications.
With its outstanding range, interference-free operation and
self-install capabilities - ULE is the ideal platform for a smarter
home,” concluded Aydın Özyavaş, Connected Home Products Manager at
Turkcell.
“We’re pleased and proud to lead the ULE
revolution, and look forward delivering Turkcell subscribers ULE’s
unparalleled technological merits and low Total Cost of Ownership,”
said Ofer Elyakim, CEO of DSP Group. “ULE continues to prove itself
as the technology of choice for IoT services at home, and a
unifying force in the home automation market,” added Raz
Kivelevich-Carmi, VP marketing and business development, ULE
Product line at DSP Group.
Turkcell will be presenting its new service in
the 2016 Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas, January 6-9
in the ULE Alliance Pavilion located in the Sands Expo as well as
in DSP Group’s demonstration room in the Marriot Courtyard Hotel,
located opposite the main CES halls. The demonstration is open to
the public and to the media.
