Turkcell’s (NYSE:TKC)(BIST:TCELL) wholly-owned subsidiary life:) has announced the launching of BiP, Turkcell’s IP-based communication application, in Ukraine. Similar to the experience offered in Turkcell’s home country Turkey, BiP in Ukraine will come with voice and video call features in addition to messaging.

Users in Ukraine will be able to download BiP, which now additionally supports Ukrainian, Russian and Belarussian languages, on iOS and Android platforms through App Store and Play Store. The application is currently available for free to all smartphone users, and life:) subscribers will also benefit from free data when using BiP.

7 Months after Ukraine's First 3G Launch, life:) Introduces VoIP and Video-over-IP

“When life:) became the first operator to launch 3G GSM in Ukraine earlier this year, we emphasized that this would be a new era in the mobile communications landscape of Ukraine. 7 months later, we are proud to introduce BiP, Turkcell’s IP-based communication app, with advanced features such as voice and video call capability” said Burak Ersoy, CEO of life:) . “This has been made possible with the effort of our life:) team, support of the Turkcell team and the visionary approach of the Ukrainian government in encouraging investment in the country’s telecommunications industry”.

A product developed entirely in Turkey, BiP offers voice and video call options, group chat, and secret chat feature. It allows users to create and share internet memes, and comes with a wide range of “stickers” – humoristic cartoons designed specifically for the app.

The application, which was previously available in Turkish and English, now supports 5 languages: Turkish, English, Ukrainian, Belarussian and Russian. Turkish and English versions were already downloaded 4.2 million times in 169 countries prior to the launch of the product in Ukraine.

life:), which serves 13.8 million customers in Ukraine as of September 30th, 2015, became the first operator in Ukraine to offer 3G services earlier this year with its 3G+. It is the market leader in smartphone and 3G-compatible device penetration.
