MUMBAI -(Dow Jones)- Target Corp. (TGT) Wednesday denied a newspaper report that the U.S.-based retailed is in talks with Indian software companies to sell its captive business process outsourcing unit. "We remain firmly committed to this Target team... Recent rumors about a sale are ridiculous speculation," Gregg Steinhafel, Target's chairman, president and chief executive, said in a statement. The Bangalore-based unit employs 2,100 people, it said, adding, the company has no plans to sell the operation. The Economic Times, citing unnamed sources, reported Wednesday Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (532540.BY) and Wipro Ltd. (507685.BY) were in discussions with Target for buying the unit. -By Deepali Gupta; Dow Jones Newswires; 91 22 6145 6107; deepali.gupta@dowjones.com
