BILLINGS, Mont., April 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- At
AT&T1, we've invested more than $150 million in our Montana wireless and wired networks from
2013-2015. These investments drive a wide range of upgrades to
reliability, coverage, speed and overall performance for residents
and businesses. They also enhance critical services that support
public safety and first responders.
Further showing our commitment to the state, AT&T will hold
our 2016 Annual Shareholder Meeting in Billings this Friday,
April 29.
In 2015, AT&T made 125 wireless network upgrades in
Montana. We launched 4G LTE, added
network capacity and launched cell sites.2
"We're committed to providing our customers fast, reliable,
highly secure connectivity. We want them to be able access the
Internet at any moment, from almost any device and anywhere," said
Tara Thue, Director of External
Affairs, AT&T-Montana. "Our continued investment in
Montana brings a host of new, innovative opportunities for
residents and businesses.
"And as we welcome our annual meeting to Billings, I can share that we've now launched
HD Voice there," said Nancy Garvey,
vice president and general manager, AT&T-Rocky Mountain Region.
"With HD Voice, callers feel like they're right next to each other.
They can also surf the mobile Internet at 4G LTE speeds while they
talk. These investments demonstrate our commitment to Montana — and to helping Montanans easily
connect with each other, their communities and their
customers."3
Notable Montana network
enhancements in 2015 included:
- Doubled capacity to 56 cellular sites in areas including:
Billings, Glendive, Great
Falls, Helena, Kalispell and Missoula.
- Launched 4G LTE in almost 20 areas including Belgrade, Shawmut and Simms.
- Added capacity to Aber Hall at the University of Montana.
- Added several markets to AT&T's LTE network, which covers
365 million people in North
America:
- Crow Agency
- Savage
- Forsyth
- Rosebud
- Miles City
We have big plans for 2016. We'll be giving you the ability to
access and stream DIRECTV video services over a wired or wireless
Internet connection from any provider and from virtually any device
– smartphone, tablet, Smart TV, streaming media hardware or PC. We
plan for each service to come with a set number of simultaneous
sessions. These services will not require annual contracts,
satellite dishes or set-top boxes.
We have an extensive Wi-Fi network with more than 40,000
AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots at popular restaurants, hotels, bookstores
and retailers. We provide access to Wi-Fi at more than 1 million
Hot Spots around the world. Most AT&T smartphone and home
Internet customers get access to our entire national Wi-Fi network
at no additional cost. Wi-Fi usage doesn't count towards customers'
monthly wireless data plans.4
