(WAG) and Supervalu Inc. (SVU) said they are in the process of restocking a batch of powdered infant formula that U.S. regulators last week declared to be safe and clear of the bacteria linked to the death of one baby and illness of two others. A handful of retailers last month removed Mead Johnson Nutrition Co.'s (MJN) 12.5-ounce cans of Enfamil powder with the lot number ZP1K7G from shelves nationwide after a 10-day-old Missouri baby who ingested it died from a bacterial infection. The companies took the precautionary step as they awaited testing results from federal health regulators. In a joint statement late Friday, the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said tests of factory-sealed containers of the formula showed no signs of contamination. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) said it is currently reviewing and assessing the test results, saying it would work with the FDA, CDC and Mead Johnson to determine the next appropriate step. Representatives from Kroger Co. (KR) and Safeway Inc.
