SAO PAULO--The Brazilian unit of Spanish banking giant Banco
Santander (SAN, SAN.MC) named Sergio Rial as its new president,
marking the return of a Brazilian at the top of the bank's
leadership in the South American nation.
Mr. Rial became chairman of Banco Santander Brasil earlier this
year after serving as chief executive of meat packer Marfrig. He
will replace Jesus Zabalza, effective in January.
Mr. Rial will be the first Brazilian to head Banco Santander
Brasil since the end of 2010.
