ATLANTA, May 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Georgia Power
announced today that Craig Barrs has
been named executive vice president of the company's Customer
Service & Operations organization. Barrs replaces Anthony Wilson, who recently accepted the role
of executive vice president of operations at Georgia Power's sister
company, Mississippi Power. Chris
Cummiskey has been elected by the company's board of
directors to succeed Barrs as executive vice president of Georgia
Power's External Affairs organization. Barrs and Cummiskey will
assume their new roles effective May 9.

In his new position, Barrs will lead Georgia Power's customer
service efforts for 2.4 million customers and oversee the
construction, design and maintenance of the company's electric
system, as well as direct region operations and corporate services.
Since joining Georgia Power in 1981, Barrs has held multiple
leadership roles throughout the company, including vice president
of Community & Economic Development and Governmental Affairs,
as well as president and CEO of Savannah Electric, prior to that
company's merger with Georgia Power.
Cummiskey joins Georgia Power from Southern Power, a Southern
Company subsidiary that provides wholesale energy across
the United States. At Southern
Power, Cummiskey served as chief commercial officer and led the
expansion of wholesale marketing activities, including business
development, acquisitions and asset management. Immediately
prior to that, Cummiskey served as commissioner of the Georgia
Department of Economic Development, where he worked to grow
business in Georgia marking more
than 500 new company locations or expansions, thousands of new jobs
and billions of dollars in economic development for the
state.
