Kunkel to lead local efforts aimed at improving the customer experience, enhancing the LTE Plus network, and increasing sales

Kevin Kunkel has been named Sprint (NYSE: S) president of the Southern California region. Based in Los Angeles, he will be responsible for sales strategy, network oversight, customer service, marketing communications and general operations supporting the full portfolio of Sprint products and services from enterprise to consumer across Southern California. Kunkel will report to Jerry Gallegos, president of the West Area.

Kunkel will lead a region in one of the four geographic areas – West, Central, Northeast and South – Sprint created when it reorganized to devote targeted resources to 18 top regions. Under Kunkel’s leadership, the region, which includes Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, Riverside, Santa Barbara, and San Bernardino, will develop market-specific offerings that serve the needs of consumer and business customers in Southern California.

The West geographic area covers Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, western Texas and Wyoming. It encompasses nearly 1,170 Sprint-branded retail stores.

Kunkel has more than 20 years of leadership experience, including his 17 years as vice president of sales at Sprint. During his tenure at Sprint, Kunkel has led organizations responsible for both the consumer and business sales sectors.
