LONDON--Kenmare Resources PLC (JEV.DB) said Wednesday that it has appointed Ben Baxter as chief operations officer.

The Irish mining company said Jacob Deysel, the current chief operations officer, will step down from his position at the end of the year to pursue other opportunities.

Mr. Baxter joins Kenmare in early January from Rio Tinto (RIO.LN), where he held the role of general manager mining at Richards Bay Minerals.
