Royal Dutch Shell PLC (RDSB.LN) said on Tuesday that Gretchen Watkins, the former chief executive of Maersk Oil, has been appointed as Shell Oil Company President and U.S. Chair.

The oil company said Ms. Watkins will replace outgoing Shell Oil Company President and U.S. Chair Bruce Culpepper, who will step down from Dec. 31, 2018.

Shell also said Ms. Watkins will replace Greg Guidry as the executive vice president of its unconventionals business. Mr. Guidry will leave the position on June 31.

Ms. Watkins will take over as the executive vice president of unconventionals from July 1, but will officially join the company two months earlier in May, Shell said.

In her expanded role, Ms. Watkins will report to Shell Chief Executive Ben van Beurden, the company said.
