Mastercard Inc. (MA) has approached Vocalink about a potential purchase of the U.K.-based payment systems company, Sky News reported.

A deal could be worth more than 1 billion pounds ($1.42 billion), the report said.

Vocalink is owned by several banks. Sky News reported in November that Vocalink held deal talks with Italy-based Sia.
