Pearson Appoints Sidney Taurel as Chairman

LONDON--Pearson PLC (PSON.LN) has appointed Sidney Taurel as its
new Chairman, the media and education firm said Monday.
The educational products specialist said Glen Moreno will step
down on Dec. 31, after more than a decade as chairman of the
Pearson board.
Mr. Taurel is a board director and chairman of the Compensation
Committee at both IBM Corp. and McGraw Hill Financial, Inc. He is
senior advisor at global investment bank Moelis & Co. and an
advisory board member at pharmaceutical firms Takeda Pharmaceutical
and Almirall.
Pearson shares at 1205 GMT were up 0.1% at 901 pence, valuing
the company at GBP7.40 billion.
