ANDOVER, Mass., March 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Royal Philips
(NYSE: PHG; AEX: PHIA) today announced its participation in the
2015 American College of Cardiology's Annual Scientific Session and
Expo (ACC) taking place from March
14-16 in San Diego, CA.
During the show, Philips will demonstrate its connected solutions,
along with its technological advances to streamline workflow and
improve the delivery of cardiology care.
Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death around
the world, and over 7 million people annually die of coronary heart
disease alone1. As a leading company to combine clinical
and personal health solutions across the health continuum, Philips
is uniquely situated to help healthcare professionals treat
cardiovascular disease by encouraging prevention and healthy
living, speeding diagnosis and treatment, and enabling more
effective recovery and home care.
"Caring for cardiology patients involves so many variables, from
family history to lifestyle choices to medication adherence," said
Jeroen Tas, CEO, Healthcare Informatics Solutions and Services,
Philips. "Cardiologists need the ability to easily link
together clinical data with images, scans, informatics and EMR
data, as well as patient-reported information over time, in order
to develop targeted treatment plans that improve patient care. Our
HealthSuite Digital Platform will enable this integrated and
a longer term view across the health continuum to address the needs
of cardiology patients and their caregivers."
During the show, Mr. Tas will present and participate in a panel
session on the topic of Big Data and cardiology along with other
leaders in the field of cardiology, including L. Kristin Newby and James E. Tcheng from Duke Cardiology and
H. Vernon Anderson from Texas Heart
Institute. The presentations and panel, entitled "Big Data: Future
of Cardiovascular Medicine IV," will be held on Sunday, March 15, from 8:00 to 9:30am PDT.
At the Philips booth (#137), the company will announce
and display a number of aspects of the company's cardiology and
