DOW JONES NEWSWIRES Deutsche Telekom (DTE.XE) is in talks with Metro PCS Communications Inc. (PCS) about a possible merger involving the German company's T-Mobile USA unit, Bloomberg News reported Wednesday on its website, citing people familiar with the matter. According to a plan being considered by Deutsche Telekom, the company would use a stock-swap transaction that would give it control over a combined Metro PCS and T-Mobile USA with that company publicly listed. Also being considered is an initial public offering or outright sale of T-Mobile USA. Deutsche Telekom also is in talks with other, unidentified companies, sources told Bloomberg. Representatives of Deutsche Telekom and MetroPCS declined comment to Bloomberg.
