The award is named after former vice-chair of the Board of
Governors of the Federal Reserve, George Mitchell, an early
proponent of electronic payments. It honors an individual or
organization that has shown superior leadership in the development,
implementation or advancement of domestic or international
electronic payments.
Verifone received the award for its leadership in user education
and readiness in support of EMV, according to NACHA. Verifone’s
proactive and comprehensive advocacy has helped merchants,
financial institutions and other industry partners prepare for and
more precisely understand the role, value and implications of EMV
in the broader context of a sound, multilayered security
approach.
“We are tremendously honored to be presented with this
prestigious award,” said Jennifer Miles, president, Verifone
Americas. “Verifone is committed to helping its merchants and
partners solve payments complexity, and being publicly recognized
by NACHA validates this commitment, which is behind all of our
previous and future efforts and industry collaboration aimed at
helping to streamline the U.S. migration to EMV.”
“NACHA is proud to recognize Verifone as a recipient of the
George Mitchell Payments System Excellence Award,” said Janet O.
Estep, president and CEO of NACHA. “Verifone has contributed
significantly to leadership and excellence in payments by finding
innovative ways to evolve its processes and products to meet the
needs of a changing payments industry.”
The award is part of NACHA’s Payments System Awards, which
recognize the highest degree of achievement in the development,
implementation and advancement of electronic payments. These
prestigious awards celebrate excellence, outstanding
accomplishments and superior leadership in innovation to further
the ACH Network.
Verifone and other recipients of the 2015 Payments System Awards
were recognized during the Payments System Awards Luncheon,
sponsored by TD Bank N.A., at PAYMENTS 2015, in New Orleans,
Louisiana. PAYMENTS is the largest and most comprehensive education
