Dow Jones News
1322 GMT As Indian telecom companies start to gain more revenue
from data services than traditional telephone services, India's
biggest telecommunications company by sales and subcribers hires
Nokia Networks to help expand 3G services in three of India's 22
telecom service areas: Mumbai, West Bengal and Bihar. It's the
latest contract in a long-term partnership; other suppliers include
LM Ericsson Telefon AB and Huawei Technology Co. In the latest
quarter through September, Bharti Airtel Ltd's profits more than
doubled, helped by higher usage of internet services.
