Target Hires Nordstrom Veteran as Merchandising Chief

Target Corp. said Tuesday it hired Nordstrom Inc. veteran Mark
Tritton as its chief merchandising offer starting next month,
ending a nearly yearlong search as the discount chain reshapes its
business.
The move comes as Chief Executive Brian Cornell, who took the
helm in 2014, works to reshape his executive ranks, improve
Target's online business, spruce up stores and improve its
offerings to attract more shoppers.
Mr. Tritton succeeds Kathryn "Kathee" Tesija, who relinquished
the role in July of last year after more than 30 years with the
retailer. That decision removed an executive who helped Target
build its coveted Tar-zhay reputation but also held influential
roles during years in which many investors and insiders felt the
discounter had lost its way.
At Nordstrom, Mr. Tritton headed up its product group,
overseeing the merchandising, design, manufacturing, marketing and
distribution of the department-store operator's private label
brands. His previous experience includes leadership roles with
Timberland and Nike.
The company also appointed Jason Goldberger to the new role of
chief digital officer.
Mr. Goldberger, who has been with Target since 2013, was named
president of Target.com and mobile the following year. His previous
experience includes leadership roles at online retailers such as
Gilt Groupe, Hayneedle.com and Amazon.
