DOW JONES NEWSWIRES Nike Inc. (NKE) has sued Reebok International, accusing it of improperly using Tim Tebow's name on New York Jets apparel, Reuters reported Wednesday on its website. Nike, in its filing in the U.S. District Court in New York, said it is seeking compensatory and punitive damages and charged the Adidas AG (ADS.XE) unit of improperly introducing products with Tebow's name. Reebok "has no authorization from Mr. Tebow or anyone else to use Mr. Tebow's name or other identification on such Jets product," Nike said in the filing. Nike says it is authorized and licensed to use the Tebow name on football-related products.
