“All of the women in our rankings — Ranjana included — are leaders at their companies and are truly exceptional at their jobs,” said American Banker executive Editor Bonnie McGeer. “Ranjana is also active in the industry, and in her community. Our hope is that by calling attention to such outstanding women, we can help amplify efforts by the industry to diversify its still largely male-dominated senior ranks.”

In naming Ms. Clark to the Top 25 list, the magazine cited her role leading transaction banking efforts for MUFG in the United States, Canada, and Latin America, where she’s responsible for sales, product development, client delivery, strategy, and risk management. She oversaw year-over-year improvements in total deposits and revenue, and restructured the group to align for increased flexibility and growth, focusing on a streamlined onboarding process for new clients.

“Ranjana is a strong leader, collaborator, and mentor,” said Stephen Cummings, President and Chief Executive Officer for MUFG Union Bank. “She surpasses her business goals every year, and finds innovative ways to serve our clients while inspiring our colleagues. This honor is a welcome and well-deserved recognition.”

Prior to joining MUFG in 2013, Ms. Clark was Chief Customer and Marketing Officer at PayPal. She also served as President of Global Business Payments and Head of Global Strategy at Western Union, and earlier was Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Wachovia Bank where she also served as Head of the Treasury Services Group. Prior to Wachovia, she spent five years with Deutsche Bank in Mumbai, India.

Ms. Clark earned her MBA with an emphasis in Finance from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, and received an MBA with an emphasis in Marketing from the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad, India. She received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Delhi. She has held the Certified Treasury Professional designation as well as Series 7, 8, 24 and 63 securities licenses.

Ms. Clark has been recognized as one of “The Most Influential Women in Payments” by Payments Source and Bank Technology News. She also has been named as one of the “Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business” by the San Francisco Business Times and was included in a list of “Women of Influence” by the Silicon Valley Business Journal. She is a member of the Board of Directors of StanCorp Financial Group, Inc., and served on the Board of Visitors of the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, and the boards of The Association of National Advertisers, the AdCouncil, and the Center for Economic Development in Washington, D.C.

Ms. Clark is joined in American Banker Magazine’s annual list of top bankers by her MUFG colleagues Bita Ardalan, head of Middle Market Banking for the U.S., and Wendy Breuder, Co-General Manager and Head of Midwest General Industries for U.S. Corporate Banking. Both were named to the magazine’s list of ‘25 Women to Watch.’ Ardalan is based in Woodland Hills, California, and Breuder in Chicago.

All of this year’s honorees will be celebrated at a gala dinner and awards ceremony on October 8 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City, hosted by American Banker Magazine and parent company SourceMedia. The 13th annual ranking is featured in the October issue of American Banker and published at http://www.americanbanker.com/women-in-banking/.
