NEW DELHI -(Dow Jones)- ArcelorMittal (MT.AE)--whose two proposed plants in India have failed to take off so far--is looking for alternate sites in the country, the company's chief executive for India and China said Wednesday. "We are constantly looking at opportunities all around India either for alternate sites, or even an additional plant," Vijay Kumar Bhatnagar told reporters on the sidelines of a steel conference. The company's planned steel plants in Orissa and Jharkhand, with an estimated investment of almost $20 billion, hasn't yet got off the ground in the past four years because of land acquisition problems. "Four years is a very long time to set up a steel plant," Bhatnagar said. He didn't give any timeframe for plans to select alternate steel sites in India. ArcelorMittal is the world's largest steel producer by output and all other measures. -By Prasenjit Bhattacharya & Rajesh Roy, Dow Jones Newswires; 91 22 6145 6109; sahil.mahtani@dowjones.com
