ConsejoSano is designed to help employers simplify care,
increase engagement, and lower costs related to Spanish-speaking
employees. ConsejoSano offers the only telehealth service that
instantly connects callers to native Spanish-speaking doctors for
general health needs, which helps employees to build trust and
avoid unnecessary emergency room visits. The service also addresses
other key concerns for Spanish speaking employees such as emotional
or stress issues, proper nutrition, and chronic conditions.
Accessible from any phone or a mobile app, 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week, with unlimited calls, ConsejoSano is also the only telehealth
service in the US that provides doctors with a shared cultural
background and whose primary language is Spanish, rather than
translator services or doctors who speak Spanish as a second
language.
More efficient use of health care resources and earlier
identification of health issues result in dramatic cost savings for
both employers and employees. ConsejoSano resolves over 60% of
medical issues immediately upon the first call, before the need for
a more expensive in-person or telemedicine visit.
“As the diverse health needs of the US population grow, so does
the need for doctors who can understand and empathize with the
language and cultural context of their patients,” said Mercer’s Dr.
David Kaplan, Leader of Mercer Health Innovation LABS. “The
introduction of ConsejoSano comes at a critical time for US
employers. The Spanish speaking population represents nearly 54
million people and of those, 22 million are actively part of the US
workforce. Despite this enormous demographic transition, Hispanic
employees are not well served by existing services. ConsejoSano’s
telehealth solution is groundbreaking in its approach to helping
employers – and now, our clients – create and foster a diverse and
inclusive workforce.”
“ConsejoSano is part of a solution to the pressing need for the
US health care system to become bilingual,” said Abner Mason, CEO
of ConsejoSano. “Many Spanish-speakers disengage from the health
care system altogether because of language and cultural barriers,
lack of insurance coverage, or a lack of knowledge about how the US
health care system works. We have been overwhelmed by the
enthusiasm and response from our early clients and their employees,
and appreciate the recognition by Mercer.”
The Mercer alliance with ConsejoSano follows the recently
announced alliance with the fertility services provider Progyny,
another industry leading solution that Mercer’s Health Innovation
LABS team is helping deliver to the market.
The Mercer LABS team continuously researches the health care
landscape, evaluates emerging trends and identifies promising
solutions. The Mercer LABS team engages with innovative companies
to accelerate the development of their ideas and test them with
forward-thinking employers. Their work helps employers navigate the
rapidly changing health care environment, launch
clinically-impactful programs and improve the health of their
employees and families.
