Les plateformes mobiles, moteur de l’inclusion sociale et financière des femmes

Lors de la convention annuelle de la Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), Tata Communications et MasterCard ont annoncé un « CGI Commitment to Action ». Il s’agit d’un nouveau pas dans leur engagement pour aider financièrement 25 000 femmes dans les pays en voie de développement. Ce projet s’inscrit dans le cadre d’une vision à plus grande échelle. A terme, l’objectif est de pouvoir accompagner 100 millions de femmes dans le monde.

Pour donner vie à cette vision commune, le leader mondial des télécommunications et le leader mondial de la technologie des paiements sont soutenus par un écosystème de partenaires, parmi lesquels figurent : Brightstar Corp, Kiva, Tone, Trickle Up et Hidary Foundation. Le projet va durer 5 ans. Cinq années au cours desquelles ces femmes bénéficieront d’un accès généralisé à des plateformes mobiles, et auront ainsi accès à une large gamme d’applications et de services dédiés à la finance, la santé et l’éducation.

« Dans 10 ans, trois milliards de personnes en plus seront connectés dans le monde, et ce, essentiellement dans les pays en développement. Partant de ce constat, nous avons aujourd’hui une opportunité pour libérer les femmes de la pauvreté en leur offrant l’accès à l’information et de nouvelles possibilités économiques », déclare Salgame Rangu, PDG, Growth Ventures Group, Tata Communications. « Avec ce programme, Tata Communications et MasterCard s’unissent sur le long terme pour mener la population connectée, qui sera bientôt composée de près de 3 milliards d’individus, vers une nouvelle ère. »

En comparaison avec la population masculine, le nombre de femmes connectées dans les pays en voie de développement est inférieur de 200 millions. Elles sont également 300 millions de moins que les hommes à posséder un téléphone mobile.1 Dans le même temps, les études montrent que l’impact de l’autonomie financière des femmes est primordial, en commençant par leur capacité à relever le niveau de vie du ménage étant donné qu’elles sont davantage susceptibles de dépenser leur revenu pour établir un mode de vie sain et durable pour leurs familles.

« Deux millions d’adultes dans le monde, en majorité des femmes, ne disposent toujours pas d’un moyen sûr et facile de recevoir, garder et utiliser leur argent », déclare Walt Macnee, vice-président de MasterCard. « Nous voyons ici une occasion de permettre aux femmes d’accéder et de contrôler leurs finances au moyen d’outils financiers numériques. En menant ce projet d’inclusion financière des femmes à travers le monde, nous franchissons un cap important dans la réduction de la pauvreté, l’égalité et la prospérité économique. »

Tata Communications, MasterCard et son réseau de partenaires portent cette initiative à travers la mise en place d’une série d’implémentations non linéaire, comme c’est souvent le cas dans le secteur des technologies. Le programme sera lancé avec des projets pilotes en Inde, au Nigeria, en Indonésie et au Guatemala, ciblant 25 000 femmes dans un premier temps. Celui-ci sera répliqué à plus grande échelle pour atteindre 100 millions de femmes d’ici 2020.
