LAS VEGAS, Nov. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Las Vegas Sands
Corp. (NYSE: LVS) today announced a homeless youth awareness
campaign in support of National Homeless Youth Awareness
Month. As part of the company's corporate citizenship program
Sands Cares, the "Lost Vegas" media campaign, beginning
November 15, asks area residents to
join the company in delivering support to Nevada Partnership for
Homeless Youth (NPHY) by donating or volunteering time to help
homeless youth.
The Las Vegas area has more
than 2,000 estimated unaccompanied homeless youth and teens, many
of whom become homeless quickly and unexpectedly. Faced with
finding resources for their survival, they learn to blend in with
their peers to avoid detection, truly becoming the "lost"
population of Las Vegas.
"Being young and homeless is a truly frightening proposition,"
said Ron Reese, senior vice
president of corporate communications at Las Vegas Sands.
"Our goal is to help NPHY tell the success stories of real people
who have experienced homelessness to show the impact we can have
when these kids get the support and resources they need to dig out
of their circumstances."
The Sands Cares "Lost Vegas" awareness campaign is accompanied
by contributions LVS made to both Nevada Partnership for Homeless
Youth (NPHY) and STREET Teens in 2015. Donations to both
organizations were aimed at helping homeless teens focus on their
academic and professional futures by providing strengthened
educational sites and assistance that are available year-round,
including technology, personal support and scholarships. LVS
also amplified its work to help address homelessness in
Las Vegas with a recent donation
to the National Alliance to End Homelessness to support its current
effort to end homelessness among veterans.
"With this awareness campaign, we want to engage the entire
community to better understand the problems homeless youth face,"
said Arash Ghafoori, executive
director of NPHY. "With the help of our community, NPHY will
be better equipped to give our teens a second chance throughout the
holiday season and beyond."
LVS' focus on addressing the needs of homeless youth in
Las Vegas is a focus of the
company's corporate citizenship program, Sands Cares. Announced in
April 2014, Sands Cares manifests the
company's core corporate citizenship values: supporting people in
the company and the hospitality industry, making local communities
where LVS operates a better place to live and reducing
environmental impact on the planet. Sands Cares provides a
cohesive approach to corporate and property-level giving and
support in local communities where LVS operates to address the most
pressing issues in its local communities and help make them better
places to live. For more information about Sands Cares and key
initiatives, please visit www.sandscares.sands.com.
The awareness campaign will run during the month of November,
designated National Homeless Youth Awareness Month.

About the Nevada Partnership for Homeless
Youth (NPHY)
NPHY began in 2000 when a group of concerned community members
formed a coalition to address the growing problem of unaccompanied
homeless youth in the Las Vegas Valley. Confronting legal barriers
preventing homeless youth from accessing life-saving services, the
group successfully fought to get the landmark "Right to Shelter"
law passed by the Nevada Legislature in 2001. Today, this law still
makes it possible for abused and neglected unaccompanied homeless
minors to receive critical services they might otherwise not be
able to access. Since then, NPHY has grown from a small
citizen coalition to the most comprehensive service provider for
homeless youth in Nevada, bringing
resources, safety and well-being to thousands of homeless youth
each year.
