DALLAS, Dec. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Southwest
Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) announced today that its Facilities
Maintenance Technicians have rejected the tentative agreement
negotiators reached in late October. The five-year deal would have
become the group's first contract since being accreted into the
Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA).

(AMFA), 34 of 37 eligible Employees voted on the agreement, with 19
voting against it.
"I appreciate the time and effort negotiators spent creating an
entirely new agreement," said Senior Director Corporate Facilities
John Zuzu. "The Company will take a step back to assess the results
of the vote and determine how we might structure a contract that
respects and serves the interests of both the Company and our
Employees."
Section VI Negotiations officially began in June 2013. The Company will not speculate as to
when negotiations will resume.
