Lowe's has appointed Jocelyn Wong as chief marketing officer. She succeeds Marci Grebstein, who has left the company.

Ms. Wong previously served as senior vice president and general merchandising manager for the seasonal business at the home improvement retailer. She joined the company in September 2015 from Family Dollar, and has previously worked at Safeway and Procter & Gamble.

"We are confident that Jocelyn's breadth of experience in developing marketing and merchandising strategies will further deepen Lowe's connection with customers," said Chief Customer Officer Michael McDermott, in a statement. "Jocelyn has demonstrated the leadership capabilities needed to drive a more integrated omni-channel marketing approach that builds loyalty for the Lowe's brand and positions the company for continued growth."

Ms. Wong will report into Mr. McDermott and oversee customer experience design, content strategy and development, customer relationship management, advertising and media for the U.S. home improvement business.

Ms. Grebstein's departure comes as the company conducts a media agency review and evaluates the shops that could potentially take on its large media buying account. The company spent $358.4 million on domestic measured media, including search, in 2015, the most recent full year of spending data from Kantar Media.

Ms. Grebstein joined Lowe's in 2015 as vice president of advertising and has served as CMO for a little over a year.

The Mooresville, N.C.-based company is cutting thousands of workers and making a number of additional changes as more consumers embrace online shopping, The Wall Street Journal recently reported. According to USA Today, the company plans to eliminate 10% of the vice presidents from its corporate group. Lowe's in November decreased its profit forecast for the year due to weaker-than-expected store traffic and recently announced a CFO change.

The marketing department also has undergone some change in recent months. Ms. Grebstein previously reported into former Chief Customer Officer Michael Jones , but Mr. Jones left in October. Lowe's Mr. McDermott replaced him in the role overseeing customer insights, customer experience design, marketing and strategy.
