Lowe's Canada, the Toronto-based unit of Lowe's Companies Inc.,
appointed Gregor Stuart as vice president for supply chain as the
home-improvement retailer began an aggressive expansion plan in
Canada.
A former vice president of supply chain at Canadian retailer The
Bargain! Shop, Stuart has more than 25 years of logistics and
supply chain experience, most recently at NBR Consulting, a firm
focused on supply chain consulting for retail shippers.
Stuart joins Lowe's as the company is expanding its store count
in Canada from 40 to 54 sites, including 12 additions with the
acquisition of former Target Stores Inc. stores across the country.
In an announcement last week, the company said it will add a
Canadian distribution center in Milton, Ontario, near Toronto, to
help manage the flow of goods to its new Canadian stores.
Lowe's said in a statement that Stuart's appointment "supports
Lowe's continued growth in Canada, while ensuring the optimal
supply chain infrastructure is in place to serve Lowe's current
stores and expansion plans."
Stuart has spent his career working in Canadian supply chains,
first as an analyst at supermarket chain Loblaw Cos. Ltd. and later
at Canadian Tire Corp. Ltd. and at clothing retailer Hudson's Bay
Company.
Lowe's says its supply chain operation manages the flow of goods
from more than 7,000 suppliers around the world that are funneled
through regional distribution centers.
