IdentityTheft.gov, developed by Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Solutions (IS&GS) under paid contract with the FTC, was launched on January 21, 2016. The mobile and tablet-friendly site allows consumers to report identity theft complaints and securely access a free, personalized guide to recovery that helps streamline many of the steps involved. The site offers an array of easy-to-use tools, which enable identity theft victims to create the documents they need to alert police, the main credit bureaus and the Internal Revenue Service, among others.

"The FTC received more than 490,000 identity theft complaints in 2015, which represents a 50% increase from 2014," said Scott Gray, vice president of information technology and security solutions at Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Solutions. "There is every indication that these numbers are only expected to grow. We worked in partnership with FTC to develop a one-stop resource that makes it easy for victims to report their identity theft complaints and access resources to report and remediate their concerns."

IdentityTheft.gov aims to deliver exceptional customer service by augmenting the online self-service capabilities with appropriate assisted services including Web chat and call center support, when needed. Together, this provides a mission-centric, multi-channel citizen service that is focused on assisting consumers in remediating their identity theft concerns anywhere, at any time, and on any device. In the first three months after the launch of IdentityTheft.gov, 116,000 consumers had set up accounts to access their personalized recovery plan. At this rate, it is estimated that over 500,000 consumers will benefit from IdentityTheft.gov on an annual basis.
