LONDON--Engineering support services firm Babcock International Group PLC (BAB.LN) said Tuesday that Ascent Flight Training Ltd., has been awarded 1.1 billion pounds ($1.57 billion) contract by the U.K.'s Ministry of Defence (MOD).

Ascent, a 50/50 joint venture between Babcock and Lockheed Martin, will deliver the U.K. Military Flying Training System through to 2033, in partnership with the MOD.

Babcock shares at 1015 GMT down 2 pence, or 0.2%, at 907 pence, valuing the company at GBP4.57 billion.
