Boeing Co. on Wednesday rejected a $2 billion offer for its space launch joint venture from Aerojet Rocketdyne Holdings Inc.

Aerojet has been pursuing United Launch Alliance LLC, a 50/50 joint venture between Boeing and Lockheed Martin Corp. that is the Pentagon's primary rocket maker, launching most sensitive military and intelligence satellites.

"We did not take the unsolicited proposal for ULA seriously," Boeing Space President Craig Cooning said in prepared remarks for a speech at an industry conference. "We are committed to ULA and its business."

Boeing spokesman Todd Blecher confirmed Mr. Cooning's remarks.
