LONDON--U.K.-based aerospace and defense systems company Meggitt PLC (MGGT.LN) Tuesday said its Defense Systems arm won a $42.1 million contract from Lockheed Martin Corp. (LMT) to supply ammunition handling systems for Scout armored vehicles used by the British army.

The systems, designed to rapidly feed 40 mm ammunition rounds into cannons, will be designed and manufactured at Meggitt's facility in Irvine, CA, with delivery running from 2016 to 2021.

The company also said it has been awarded GBP10.2 million in contracts from the U.K. Ministry of Defence to upgrade British Army small-arms training systems called Dismounted Close Combat Trainers.
