L-3 Communications (NYSE:LLL) announced today that its Commercial Training Solutions (L-3 CTS) business has been awarded a contract by All Nippon Airways (ANA) to build and deliver an Airbus A320 Full Flight Simulator (FFS). Based on L-3’s RealitySeven™ flight training simulation solution, the device will be installed at ANA’s flight training facility in Tokyo, Japan, and ready to deliver training in September 2017. This will be the first RealitySeven A320 FFS to be installed at ANA’s flight training center and will join an existing RealitySeven B787 FFS at the airline’s Tokyo facility.

“We are excited to build on our partnership with ANA and to expand L-3’s international business,” said Michael T. Strianese, L-3’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “The strong demand we are experiencing for our Commercial Training Solutions business is indicative of the growing global need for qualified pilots and the state-of-the-art tools and comprehensive training options we offer that address all proficiency levels.”

“This award demonstrates our commitment to delivering high-quality training products and services to meet ANA’s long-term fleet expansion plans,” added Alan Crawford, President of L-3 Commercial Training Solutions. “By continuing our long-standing relationship, ANA has affirmed its confidence in L-3’s flexible and cost-effective RealitySeven simulation solution. Delivery of this trainer will enable ANA to grow its training capacity fleet-wide and ensure its requirements are met into the future.”

Koichi Uchizono, Senior Executive Vice President and Chairman of Operation Division for ANA, commented, “Because of the high-quality solutions and support provided by L-3 CTS, ANA has decided to purchase a new A320 RealitySeven full flight simulator as the best solution to meet our pilot training demand. We welcome the strengthening of the relationship between L-3 CTS and ANA.”

L-3’s A320 RealitySeven FFS will deliver high degrees of reliability, maintainability and supportability for ANA. RealitySeven simulation solutions – including digital electrical control loading and electric motion systems – will reduce power consumption and provide high trainer availability for the airline, facilitating the lowest life-cycle costs for each device.
