Chile's LAN Airlines, a unit of Latam Airlines Group SA (LFL,
LAN.SN), is waiting Boeing Co.'s (BA) green light to fly its 787
jets, also known as Dreamliners, again, a person familiar with the
carrier said.
A Tuesday report from local Diario Financiero newspaper said LAN
would resume the 787 flights in the Santiago-Lima-Los Angeles route
on June 30.
The jets are grounded world-wide since last month when the U.S.
Federal Aviation Administration issued a directive to halt flights
after several incidents raised concerns about the plane's
safety.
FAA officials said they won't allow the plane return to service
until safety risks over the aircraft's lithium-ion batteries are
cleared.
LAN has received three of the 32 Boeing 787s it ordered and
Boeing will deliver the remainder over the next 10 years.
